Ballet Tutus

If you are taking a ballet class or maybe you are thinking of enrolling your daughter into one, you will need to find a good ballet tutu. A ballet tutu is more than just a uniform you wear while dancing, ballet tutus add a special look and glamor to the dancer when they are on the stage.  When you go to look for a tutu, you will want to consider a few different things before you purchase one.

Black has always been a very classic, sophisticated color choice for tutus.  It looks incredible on-stage, and it's a color that looks attractive on everyone. 

If you choose to dance in a black tutu, there are several things you can do to add a little glamor to your look.  You could add some delicate beading or have some fake gems applied to it.  These add a nice sparkle and look pretty under the light.

Depending on what details you have done to the tutu, it could go up to the hundreds of dollars depending on how much you want to invest in one.

Red is a great color for a tutu as it is very bright and eye-catching.  Since most tutus that are sold at chain stores come in more basic colors such as black, pink or white, you may have to go to a shop that customizes and makes their own tutus so you are able to get a tutu in this color. 

Red tutus are a popular item for little girls around Valentines Day.  Moms and dads' love to buy these pretty tutus and dress their little girls up in them and get their pictures done! 

You can find children's red tutus at some high-end children's store as well as online. These are usually done with pretty bows and hearts to accent the red color. These red tutus are usually made of tulle, so your little girl looks and feels like a princess!! The usual price for these are around $30.

Green tutus are a fantastic choice for a Christmas recital or if you have a small daughter and want to dress her up for St. Patrick's Day. 

There are many different colors of green you can choose from when you go to get this tutu made.  If you are picking a green tutu for Christmas, consider adding some red accents such as ribbons and bows or some red and white striped tights.  This gives a very bright festive look. 

If you're picking a green tutu for St. Patrick's Day, go with some white tights and maybe add some four leaf clovers to the look. 

To get a green tutu, you will probably have to go to a specialty store and request one. Tutus are very popular for dressing up babies and girls so if you're shopping for a child, you will have quite a selection you can choose from.

If you're looking for just a tutu skirt, you may be surprised at the variety they have out there. There are several different types of tutu skirts.  You can find your every-day pull on tutu skirt at most stores.  These are usually have a nylon net skirt and come in the color white.  These are fairly inexpensive and usually under $20.  You can also find these in pink and black.  If you want more colors you will have to go to a specialty store or you can try dying it yourself at home.  (Please be sure to follow the careful instructions on the box if you choose to do this!)  A romantic style tutu skirt is a bit longer than your classic. This is usually made of tulle, and again, you can find it in a few basic colors at most stores or get it specially made to fit your needs.

There is also a rehearsal type of tutu skirt. This is a layered look that sticks out and it probably the most popular.  These usually run for around $50 brand new and can sometimes be bought online for discounted prices. If you want to add an extra something while you're dancing, consider getting your tutu skirt made out of enhanced sparkle tulle or a multi colored tulle.  This type of material looks beautiful under the lights and is great for photos.
