Power Colors For Wedge Shoes: Black Wedges, Brown Wedges and Red Wedges

By

There is a certain color and style of shoe that not only looks powerful, it makes you feel powerful when you walk anywhere. Women get a little more “oomph” in the walk, a little more power in the hip-sway and a lot more shoulder swagger when they wear the right color and style of shoe.

While many think that black is the only real power color, there are shades of every color that can be and look forceful and dynamic. Of course black is powerful, but other colors stand out as well. Red and brown are colors that are austere, conservative and daring all at once. Black has been the main choice because it often goes with whatever suit or dress is worn. It's more difficult to match browns and reds, but when they're worn right, they'll look more formidable and bold than black.

Black Wedge Shoes

It's been a well known fact for ages that black is a power color. Presidents, high powered brokers and business women and men have been wearing it for decades. Black wedge shoes have fantastic power and are able to look austere, professional and even formal. Black wedges are almost always the choice to wear with suits, dresses and formal dresses.

It's not enough to just slip on a pair of black wedges in order to look more powerful. Picture a pair of flats with a business suit. The image isn't very strong and influential. There are a few things which create a strong, commanding presence in a black wedge shoe.

Higher heels don't just exude confidence, they demand it. The higher the shoe, the more daring the wearer. When looking for a shoe that really says “confident, strong, gutsy” go with a 4” to 6” heel. At the very least a 3” heel will suffice, but if you're comfortable in the shoe, high.

Leather is gorgeous but patent says you're a force to be reckoned with. A pair of black patent wedges will look amazing with just about any suit. The shine will make the look more intense.

Brown Wedges Shoes

Brown is often overlooked as a power color, but the chocolate browns paired with blacks, reds and cream colors look very polished and elegant. Lighter brown colors can add strength to plain colors like cream, beige and ivory. Used correctly, a brown shoe can add a subtle authoritative feel while still looking more fashionable.-compelling

Brown wedges are more compelling and stately. They say elegance and class rather than force and dominance. Authority doesn't always need to be forced, it can come subtly through sophistication and elegance. A polished, professional and stylish image can make people listen and pay attention. A great example of that is Victoria Beckham. With her grace and style she's become a fashion icon but also a powerful figure in the Hollywood crowd, despite having no real commercial success recently.

Brown is understated and underrated. Wear it with cream, ivory and certain shades of red. It also looks great with black. Since there are several shades of brown, it's always a good idea to bring the clothing you want to match with you to compare the shoes with the outfit. If you're buying online, using paint with a hex color system is a great way to check the color of the shoes with the color of your suit.

Brown wedges look best with wood heels or leather covered heels. They're perfect when high or just a modest pump. Since brown is often more sedate, it's still beautiful when worn in a one inch wedge heel.

Red Wedge Shoes

Red is the color of passion. Passion moves and drives ambition. Bold ambition is the driving power behind the most successful of business people. Whether it is in Hollywood or the boardroom, red wedges can be fierce and powerful when worn with confidence.

Red wedges are electric and vibrant in their potency. Their sheer brash and bold color announces “I'm here and I demand your attention”. They're perfect with black suits and even better with whites and off whites. Red is a powerhouse color that deserves it's place at the boardroom, courtroom or on the runway.

Designers love red because it's a combination of force, drive and elegance. Perfect in higher or lower heel, the red wedge can be worn with grace, style and refinement as well as boldness, vitality and forcefulness.

Red wedges have dual functionality as well. They're wicked power colors for the office, but their insanely hot to wear out at night to clubs or on a date. They'll make you look sexy and they'll make you feel sexy. You'll want to strut like a runway model when you wear red shoes in general, but it's a whole lot easier to do so in high heel wedge shoes because they help you balance.
