I have a motto : When the Shoe Fits, Wear It! Around the time I was planning my wedding, I had to make a huge choice.. new shoes or my favorite pair of shoes. Trust me, for someone that has over 88 pairs of shoes, it was a hard choice. I went around and around in my head and finally decided that I'd wear my red patent platform shoes. Yes, you read that correctly. I wore red patent leather platform shoes under my white wedding dress. It was ridiculous and fun and totally uninhibited. I adamantly believe that every woman has the right to wear whatever they went on their feet. All in all a new pair of shoes wouldn't have affected our budget that much, couple hundred dollars or less, but I wore what I loved. The shoe fit, so I wore it.

When you're planning a wedding on a budget, don't forget to include the cost of a new pair of shoes, just in case. When you're shopping for your shoes and you're looking for a specific color, or heel, don't worry about etiquette, unless you care about etiquette. What you should care about is whether a shoe makes you go "oooooooooooooh" when you see it.

When you're shopping for a great wedding wedge style, and you're shopping online or by catalog remember that the heel can be dfferent color which isn't always visible in a photograph. Check photographs carefully and be sure you can see the heel clearly.

What is a wedge shoe? A wedge shoe has the heel from toe to the heel of the foot, sometimes the heel starts at the start of the arch to the heel. A wedge heel can be as low as 1/2 an inch to as high as 4 inches. Because they follow the length of the foot, rather than just sitting under the heel, a wedge can be infinitely easier to walk in, while at the same time giving the same amount of height. Along with height, a wedge causes a slight dip in the foot, which makes the leg look sleeker.

The only negative of a wedge is that sometimes they can be a less formal shoe. They are also harder to walk in than a flat or pump, but much much easier than a stilletto.

While there are some theories of thougth which disallow certain skirts and pants with wedges, i'm not of that group. I think wedges, like all other shoes, can be worn with anything depending on how they are made and what style they are. White leather sandal wedges aren't going to look very well with a wool skirt, for example, but the little white wedding shoe wedges to the right, will fit just perfectly!

Don't be afraid of whatever style you want to buy and wear. If you're looking for a shoe for vintage bridesmaid dresses, you won't find a better style of shoe. It works great with vintage wedding gowns as well.

Why have I grouped these two together? Because, in my opinion, these shoes are both almost equally easy to walk in.

 A platform shoe has an equal heel under the toe as well as a large wide heel under the heel of the foot. Platform shoes can come in elegant form, but are considered a little funky. Because of almost equal height at the toe and the heel, you get the height from a high heel, and the ease of walking.

Flats can be pretty, but quite frankly they only reason to wear one on your wedding day is because you want the (forgive my upcoming pun) flat-out most comfortable shoe possible. Flats are the most comfortable shoe, other than a tennis shoe, that you can wear. The white wedding shoes above (ballet style) are so pretty and feminine, its hard to deny the flat wedding shoe appeal.

PS: Don't get me wrong, I'm all for flats and even tennis shoes. A great pair of silver wedding shoes can go well with anything, albeit flat, platform or wedge. The best part about them is they are cheap wedding shoes.
