Wedding Planning Websites
60Having a list of wedding planning websites is vital, If you're acting as your own wedding planner. Its important to have as much information as possible in order to save time and money. While there are many books available for purchase, did you realize there were as many free websites? Whatever type of wedding you're planning, you'll want to have all the information possible. What kind of information will you need? Read on to find out.
The important parts of wedding planning are following a timeline, having the vendor information, allocating your budget, deciding your decor for ceremony and reception, and, of course, shopping for the attire. Of course the most exciting part is shopping for the attire, at least for women, but the other parts are probably the hardest.
There are hundreds of timelines online, which one is the best? I've found some great sites, which I think are the best wedding planning websites for planning a wedding. Most of these sites I used when I planned my own wedding, and some I wish I had seen earlier.
The trick to planning your wedding well, is planning early and keeping an accurate account of the timeline and the budget. Once you have your wedding day in mind, it's time to put together the timeline. A typical timeline is 12 months to 15 months, however, not everybody gets his amount of time. Therefore, if you don't have the 12 to 15 months, you may have trouble getting cheaper vendors or event centers. It is at all possible to wait, it's to your benefit, even if you're planning a small wedding. The timeline begins with finding the vendors, this does not mean confirming or deciding on a vendor only compiling a list of contracts and menus from caterers, event centers, photographers, videographers and other rental agencies.
After you have the timeline settled, it is important to put all of your budget items into your wedding budget checklist. Everybody budget will be different, however, there are some similarities and general guidelines to follow. For instance, the percentage of each item on your budget, if you don't have an exact figure, can be very helpful. The wedding dress is the best example I can give here. A wedding dress, or should I say the wedding attire for the bride is approximately 10% of the budget. This is important information to have as you begin your planning.
With wedding list in hand, prepare a list of vendors in your area and just outside your area. If, for example, you live in the metro area, you should have a specific list of the metro area vendors and a separate list of the vendors in each suburb. These vendors will be the event centers, caterers, photographers videographers, etc.. Each of these vendors will need to send you a copy of their contracts, any menus, price lists, and be sure to ask for a list of the extra costs which are not present on the pricelist. This can be any number of things including the cost of cake cutting, which some caterers charge per slice up to four dollars (for a wedding with 100 guests, this is approximately $400.). Most good wedding planning websites will give this information.
While you prepare your vendor list, this is a great time to begin deciding on themes and styles for your wedding. It's a good idea to pick your colors based on the least expensive flowers in your local area. Flowers sometimes are cheaper in certain regions where they're more commonly grown. By choosing these local flowers you limit the color choices at your wedding, but you save a lot of money.
Shopping for your dress and jewelry and shoes can be such fun, but remember that you can save more money, the longer they shop. This means spending a lot of time researching web shops, boutiques, and even seamstresses. You might also think about renting your wedding dress and wearing shoes that you already own. Perhaps the cost of the new parachutes could be put towards your wedding dress. Websites are great places to find low cost wedding dresses. Numerous wedding planning websites will have the latest designers, but also the latest prices. This means that even though they cite a sale, it's off the retail price.
My Two favorites
I hard time picking between the two best wedding websites. I think they're both equal. It's just a matter of taste. The Knot and Wedding Channel are the two I used most often, when I planned my own wedding. I think I prefer the Knots wedding budget lists, and their shopping channels, but I prefer the timeline on Wedding Channel.
Both sites have extensive information which is really important for brides and grooms to read up on. These sites give information on new trends and miscellaneous information on caterers, extra costs, taxes etc. You'll also get a great pictures of other people's weddings, which can give you quick ideas about decorations and planning.
You can make a wedding website to house your guest lists which is unbelievably helpful. The best part about these websites is guests can rsvp to them. This is such an incredible time saver, you'll be happy you visited these sites just for this part. Make sure you only pick one of them to register your website, or you'll have guests confused and not rsvp'ing properly.
All in all these are the best websites for planning your budgets and timelines. Stay clear of their shopping experiences, however, because most of them are full price shops. You can find much cheaper places (which I list below).
Wedding Planning Websites Amazon.com
People often neglect Amazon.com in their shopping experience, and thats a sad thing to hear. I think they associate Amazon with books only, but they have pretty much everything you could want. Even Target has a sales section within Amazon's pages.
Many websites register their sales products with Amazon. Its effectively like an outlet on the web. You can really find some incredible savings here.
Vintage bridesmaid dresses, designer wedding dresses, wedding favors and more. There are tons of books available here as well.
Some Important Information About Shopping at Wedding Planning Websites
While the Internet is one of the best places to find information on planning your wedding, its equally important to be careful about paying more. Here are some things to make sure you don't spend more by buying online.
- Check if there are taxes that apply to your state or region. Some websites may be based in your city or town and the local government will require taxes for your purchase.
- Shipping costs can be more costly than you think. Check the total shipping charge carefully so you don't go over the amount.
- Write down your style numbers of dresses and exact names of the favors you need to buy so that you can search for those specifically. When you type that into the web browser you're more likely to get an accurate idea of what price ranges are available, rather than trying to sift through hours of searching.
- Be wary of used items which are from resellers with no feedback. Shopping on Amazon and Ebay has a bonus of customer reviews and ratings!
